I have been watching the CSW68 open session at the UN as part of my volunteer role as a virtual @unwomenuk delegate.
It is a real education following the different speakers providing insights on behalf of their organisations and lived experience.
A quote that stood out for me came from the founder of @manndeshi when talking about a women she had supported and her determination to succeed:
“I cannot read or write but I can sing”.

I completed my UN Women UK delegate training today

I completed my UN Women UK delegate training today.
Several friends have asked me about this role so I wanted to share some information:
. I am participating as 1 of 6000 UK volunteers who have been selected after completing an application.
. The role allows me to participate virtually in CSW68
. CSW stands for Commission on the Status of Women
. Historically participation was in person at the UN Headquarters in New York and limited to just a few representatives. Covid allowed the event to go online and open opportunities to remote delegates.

I am thrilled to have been accepted as a UN Women

I am thrilled to have been accepted as a UN Women UK delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68).
In my application I wrote that as a mother to a boy and a girl I am passionate about gender equality which continues to be a critical global issue. It is essential that women’s and girl’s rights are protected and I will lend my voice to this.
